I ate at Bill's twice during my recent visit to Panama City Beach. Both meals were very good. Chris and David were my servers, and they were excellent. I had broiled shrimp and scallops the first night and the broiled seafood platter the second night. I ate everything in sight -- except the fresh veggies that come with the meals (I am not a cauliflower or carrot lover). Bottom line: good meal, good cocktails, great service, reasonable price. I'll be back for more,

Your average tourist trap. When we were seated and I saw the menu, the flags went up. Would kids like the menu? YES. That is about it. Food was VERY average (at best) and over priced. When you see a sign on the road that shows their name on the top half that is smaller than the lower half which reads, "Live Alligators", that should be a tell to anyone. There is a swimming pool in the front that has two live gators. Big deal. Someone should report them for animal abuse, that is all it is. Nothing natural about that habitat. Anyway, for the fare we sampled, very average, plus two of our guests had the runs the next day. They had eaten the same entree. The fish selections were all laden with sauces. Another tell. Good seafood purveyors perfect their fish naturally with light seasoning, not heavy sauces. They must kill it in the season as they have so much seating for waiting outdoors on the deck. The waiter was really amateur. Nice guy, good attention to service, but when you asked him about a dish, he didn't know what to say. Example, How is your hamburger? " uhh, it is beef". Oh really? I won't go back...ever. But they will draw in the thousands of tourists daily. Nothing was fresh either, all frozen food cooked to order. Sad. Why do cities with tourists have to be this way? Also, we were greeted by a hostess that looked like 15 and she was wearing Victoria's Secret "Pink" shorts, tank and hoodie...how cheesy is that? So out of place, so unprofessional. Watch for the 16 year old gal in front with a 18" live alligator with a band around it's snout as she tries to get you to buy your kids pictures for $6 each. Shameful. This is a restaurant, not Gulf World. That is as bad as Zoo World where they house two baby giraffes in an enclosure unfit for any giraffe. TOURIST, TOURIST, TOURIST...beware.

Finnegan's Dwaddy has eaten at Bayou Bill's at least 40 times over the years; and we have always found the food tastier during the busy tourist season than the off season. We ate there in January 2012 for the first time in almost two years and the food is still very good; just not as excellent as it is when they are inordinately busy. And quite frankly, we were price shocked at the tab, almost $30 for a beer and grilled tuna steak dinner!!! Ouch! Way too expensive even for pricey San Francisco--and we may well stay away until we see this be adjusted more down to earth! $20 is extremely expensive for a tuna steak dinner per our extensive travels. Highest we have ever seen, even in San Francisco is $14. I guess that they have to pay for the alligator show that they added since we last visited there. Not dog friendly. Not wallet friendly either!!!! What a shame!

Crab cakes and shrimp po boy were good. Blackened Mahi was over cooked and broccoli was cold. Blackened grouper was raw and smoky flavored. Worst in 10 years and very disappointing!

  • C B.

Cool looking restaurant. Live gators outside which is nifty. Overall experience is meh though. - The chargrilled oysters are really good. This is definitely worth it. - The blackened grouper meal is alright. - The parmesian stuff grouper was 'moderate' (according to my momma). - Crab cakes were okay. - Waitress wasn't that great...messed up about half our orders. (Gave me fries not 2x baked tater, and coleslaw when I asked for hush puppies.) - Had a strawberry daiquiri ($6) that was terrible. Not worth it at all. - Would have expected a little better food for the prices (~$20/plate range).. seemed more like a $10-12/plate meal.

  • Angela D.

After reading the reviews we weren't sure if we would like this place... Not sure why it only had 3 stars. Glad to say we were pleasantly surprised. The raw oysters and stuffed mushrooms were great! The fried shrimp was average, and the crab legs were pretty awesome. Best thing about our experience though was our server (Clayton). Definitely ask for him!

  • Reba P.

Definitely a place to go for the fun factor.Plan ahead by calling to find out when they are feeding the alligators! For about $6 you can even take a photo with a baby alligator! As you can see, I've started out with the best of it all! The food was ok. There are many places around round the beach in general for this type of food. The service was friendly and competent. If you come here, you will not be disappointed by the ALLIGATORS!

    (3)
  • Chris C.

What a disappointment. Tourist trap extraordinaire! Service was poor and food was as pedestrian as it comes. Popular with families with little kids and messy dining area to show for it. Had a 30 minute wait for a table and spent 20 minutes at the bar trying to get the attention of one of the two bartenders. Very frustrating to be ignored so purposefully. Diner beware!

    (2)
  • Ej M.

The service was excellent, and the food very good. It was awesome to get to a place that was not way overpriced with less than satisfactory food and service. And the live alligators outside are a bonus!

    (4)
  • Wendy F.

Family oriented, with a squeaky clean feel. Excellent oysters and the special of "sweet, red" shrimp was to-die-for! Service was just ok... atmosphere kinda boring...need more music, life! It was fine.

    (3)
  • Kelly K.

The atmosphere reminds me of a red lobster. The food is similar but perhaps slightly better. I had blackened grouper which was not bad but nothing memorable. It included hush puppies which were greasy, a baked potato, and what tasted like grocery store cole slaw. To sum things up, I ate all my food and everything was serviceable, however I wouldn't recommend it. There are easily a dozen other places within 15-20 miles that will be better.

  • Colleen E.

Ate here last night. Great seafood and wonderful customer service. Buckets of steamed crabs!

    (5)
  • Eric W.

Our food was hit-or-miss at Bayou Bill's. The Orleans was fantastic, the shrimp and scallops was meh, the hush puppies were great, and the appetizers were great. Also, the live alligators were pretty cool. However, we sat with our drinks for over half an hour before we'd even ordered our food. In the end, our waitress was moved to another section and a more competent, attentive young lady took her place. In all, 2 hours for dinner isn't worth the hassle. NOT good for large groups, NOT good for kids.

    (2)
  • Brittany L.

We ate here about 2 years ago and the entire family had a great time. They serve HUGE portions of your quintessential fried seafood platters. We all left full and satiated! I loved my fried shrimp, French fries, etc! The restaurant layout is also fun for the kids and welcoming for any vacationers. Definitely stop by when you're in Panama City Beach!

    (4)
  • Sweety B.

I must say the rib eye was one of these best. The salad was fresh but waited too long for it. I was disappointed with the waiter because I ordered a side of olives and peppers which cost me $4.00. Don't order any extras before you check the price. The waiters should inform guess of the up charge. He just said sorry. I ordered a Bloody Mary and they are serving a different mix than advertised. The one I have last year was awesome. Oxford Falls made with shrimp is the mix to look for. Glad the manager took it off. The food took awhile to come out even though it was not busy at all.

  • Paul M L.

Good place to bring a family, to show them the alligators, that would be a plus for people out of town, not Florida people. The staff and the service are excellent, very friendly very nice, very helpful. But...,,. I cannot say much about the food, went there with two couples, and had fish, shrimp, dip, and multiple sides,it was cafeteria style food at best, So much so that nobody ordered dessert in fear for it being the same type of food. I gave it three stars because of the staff and the decor , and it was very clean, it's a shame that they are lacking in the food department but I guess being on or close to the beach they can get away with it,food gets two stars at best!

  • Vicentica M.

After dining with a small group and having one of the worst meals we all ever had. I have just been back twice! Grilled oysters were delicious. Not on the menu--' a grilled fish dish with spinach and a mouth water sauce. Plus it is one of the few places these days that have crab claws. You ll have to ask if they are available they're not on the menu either. What A SURPRISE they have good food now. Go during off season or be prepared to grow old while you wait in line and scream to communicate with your fellow diners

    (4)
  • Mike D.

Not just for seafood lovers! They have a full menu so any one can find something they like! Great atmosphere and good service. They had a baby crocodile out front that you can pet and have your picture taken with. The kids loved it. The food was great too especially the cheese curds. We are ranch people and their ranch is excellent!

    (5)
  • Dane P.

Good restaurant with items like fish, shrimp, crab and oysters. They also have a small gator farm up front which is fun to watch.

    (4)
  • Okrazerback M.

I had the grilled amber jack and it was great. The slaw and hush puppies were great also. The potatoes should have come with cheese and bacon bits. But I was full by the time I got to that. The waiter was excellent and funny. His name is "Big Dave". You will know him when you see him. I put 5 stars for the taste of the food and excellent service.

    (5)
  • Amanda P.

Interesting atmosphere, food was par for the course, nothing amazing but nothing bad either. Kids left with sand buckets so that was a treat for them. The kids did get to touch a baby alligator so that made the wait easy to deal with. Our server was really nice.

    (3)
  • David K.

Great food, we had a party of 16, plenty of seating for large parties. Food was excellent!

Everything we had was a10!!!! Charbroiled oysters!!!!! Crab legs!!!!! Shrimp!!! Grouper!!!! Will definitely return on our next trip to town.

    (5)
  • Aimee M.

Oh my. This was just not good. My husband's chicken was not cooked at all. Sent it back and then it just wasn't good. Overall, would not suggest this and will not return. Thought it would be a fun experience. But the food just was not good.

  • Ryan P.

So we came here for Mother's Day and struggled to enjoy the meal. Our server was very understanding and tried her best so I give her a 5, but the food and drinks did not meet the standard. Wife and I shared the fried platter and the fried clams were almost tasteless, the fried crab was way over fried, the shrimp seemed cold, but the fish had a good flavor to it. We tried 3 appetizers and found 1 to be to salty (alligator), one that wasn't flavorful (calamari) and one that was great (cheese curds). Lastly they were offering buy 3, get one free on frozen drinks but they did not have a lot of alcohol, and the mango margarita wasn't what it could have been. When the drink starts to separate as soon as it's served you know it was not done well.

Gosh this place certainly brings out the full range of emotions. Having driven past this place for the past 4 years and never gone in we decided it was time last night. After a long hike we stopped for a drink, as adults always without children we opted for the bar. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The wine pours were good. We snuck in some crab bisque and sauteed alligator bites on uncle bens and it was pretty tasty. This is a family friendly place and clearly designed for families on vacation. If you want posh seafood go somewhere else.

    (3)
  • Cyndi L.

Great Place! The Snow Crab was so sweet! Service was wonderful!!! Varied menu...everyone enjoyed their food. Charbroiled oysters were superb.

    (5)
  • Christina S.

We ate here while one vacation and we're really happy with our meal. The crab dip appetizer was excellent. I ordered the crab stuffed red fish which was excellent as well. My boyfriend ordered a fried seafood platter which was good. We would go back. I personally do not care for the alligators held in captivity and see no reason for a restaurant to do this...but then I grew up in Florida so it holds no interest for me.

    (4)
  • Catherine S.

I read the reviews and saw that it was a good place for children. We had 4 adults and 2 children. One in a high chair. They added a $30 tip to the bill. They said if the one year old in the high chair ate then that was considered 6 people thus leading to a the added $30 tip. All I have to say the service wasn't that great and the manager should pay his employees. Hey, too many other restaurants leave this one alone. If the service and food was worth it I would have happily paid that if not more. However, that was like stealing money from me!

    (1)
  • R H.

Food was good for a chain... The kids loved it!!!!! They loved the server, the chicken strip basket, and the alligators that you can pet. Great place to take a family. The stuffed fish was awesome, and everything was good or better; Except for the sauteed gator, please take this OFF the menu. It taste like some Asian pork dish with way too much soy sauce in the boat it's served in.. It actually stained the plate we dished it out on. This place is fast and generally good, with great service and again great for kids. Without the kids we would skip it, but if they are with us, it is a must go to place when visiting Panama City area

    (4)
  • Eric C.

Very kid-friendly place. Our daughter loved seeing the live alligators. Her meal (which she liked) was served in a plastic bucket with a shovel, both of which she was happy to take home. Not very aware of accommodating for customers who have to eat gluten-free. The waitress did not offer any options of side items that were gluten-free....and the "gluten-free" meal was served with fried hushpuppies on the same plate. May not be a big deal for some people who have mild gluten intolerance, but it is a very big deal for celiacs. If a place is touting themselves as able to accommodate for gluten-free diets, they need to train the folks in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination and prepare their wait-staff to offer be able to offer options for what people with celiac disease can safely eat there.

    (2)
  • Christopher N.

Service? Attentive. With the manager making his rounds to keep it that way. Food? Mixed review. If you like fried, you will be happy. If you don't ... I had the most beautiful succulent soft shell crabs, destroyed under a mass of tasteless batter. The second one I broke off the batter and discovered what good soft-shells they had bought. It is a shame the kitchen doesn't know about sauteing. They have low country crab boils too, but at $33 per, I didn't want to risk that investment.

  • Heather R.

Service was great, restaurant was clean and entertaining for children, food was terrible. Tuna entree, crab legs, crab dip, all frozen and not tender, not hot, and not appetizing. We all left hungry.

    (2)
  • Cheri P.

We really enjoyed our visit! The food was great. Our server- Megan was really good and she even gave us a mini lesson on the different types of Grouper. The highlight was being seated and greeted by Patrick- we were not surprised to find out he was the owner. Neat place- good food- great service and as a little bonus they have live alligators!

    (5)
  • Jonah H.

Great food, Great service. While waiting for your table there are live alligators outside to watch. I had the Blackened Grouper. My friends had the Blue crab and the shrimp. All three of our meals were excellent! The blackened grouper is some of the best I've ever had. So many great other menu items. We will definitely be going back.

    (4)
  • Emily B.

The only thing worth coming here for is the chargrilled oysters. The food is not good at all, but grabbing oysters and a beer is an option.

    (2)
  • Jenny L.

U would expect seafood to taste better in a beachtown. I got served frozen then thawed shrimp and scallop swimming in nothing but butter and cayenne pepper. Overpriced, low quality seafood restaurant. Only thing worth seeing are aligators in their 2 feet pool. Would not recommend. The locals dont even eat here.

    (1)
  • Clint P.

Great food! Sautéed Alligator appetizer was excellent. Had the blackened grouper for dinner. It was prepared very well and tasted great. Hush puppies are a nice treat. Very good flavor and consistency. Service was prompt and courteous. Very clean restaurant. Plus the kids get to play with gators. Will be back next time we are here.

    (5)
  • L S.

Horrible! Don't eat there. They charged a 18% gratuity for a party of 6 when 2 were children! Children! The food was mediocre and not worth a $200 check! Go to Salty Sues and get some awesome chicken wings!

    (1)
  • Garrett B.

Solid tourist restaurant. Friendly staff, decent food, healthy portions, but don't expect too much for the relatively steep price (~ $20/plate) Chargrilled oysters were just ok (after being touted by the waiter as being better than Drago's... not even close)... kids menu was pricey (kids rib plate for $10.50 and no drink included) but my 11 year old son loved his adult burger. Wife had the shrimp and scallops which were "good". Good overall experience but don't come here for a transcendent dining experience.

    (3)
  • Brad S.

absolutely the worst place we've ever eaten ... ever! extra long wait, worst service, super high prices, worst food ever! totally lame. long john silvers is 1,000 times better than this place.

    (1)
  • April J.

Would have given it 3.5 stars if that was an option. If this restaurant was in Atlanta, I would give it 4 stars. The oysters were delicious and shrimp and scallops were fresh as well. Excellent service.

    (3)
  • Mary E J.

Wasn't that bad but there are too many good places to eat in the area. I started with the gumbo and I didn't like it at all. It was more like a thick bean soup without the beans and had a heavy celery flavor. The server took it off our bill even after I told her it was alright. My husband ordered a blackened fish of some sort and it tasted burnt, not blackened. I had a grouper dish and it was good. Nothing special. The fried foods that surrounding guest ordered looked really good.

    (2)
  • Greg S.

Family oriented seafood. They have alligators out front and let you pet the babies, supervised of course. The food was the standard fried and broiled seafood. Reasonably priced for the area. During the summer, it's usually packed. Our last visit we had Dave as our waiter and he provided the best service we've had all vacation. As a large family we will be back.

    (3)
  • Nicole C.

The Crab Platter for 2, although Pricey was very good. My only problem is they bring it all at once so by the time ur Half Way through....The rest are COLD. The Grilled OYSTERS (on Special that night) WERE FANTASTIC! A MUST HAVE for Oyster Lovers!

    (4)
  • Joy S.

Looking for local fresh seafood? This is not the place! Despite the 30 minutes wait, there were plenty of empty tables in the dining area, which means either not enough serving staff or kitchen staff. We headed to the bar for app's and drinks. The Piña Colada was delicious as were the fried crab claws, which I had never had. The bartender was friendly. We ordered the Bayou platter for 2, fried. Fried oysters, shrimp were ok but not out of this world. I found the clams rubbery and the fish bland. Hush puppies nothing to write home about. But the meal itself was only $42.00. We spent $28 in the bar for 2 domestic beers, the piña Colda and the fried claws. Service staff was ok- not excellent. These tourist places depend on 1 and done patrons, not repeats. We won't go back.

    (2)
  • Emily R.

Decent place. Casual but not grimy. Very spacious. Good service. My mom had the mahi mahi and I had the grouper - the mahi mahi was the better of the two. Avoid their key lime pie - it is really atrocious. It was yellow and came in a regular pie crust rather than a graham cracker crust.

  • Sherry S.

We walked in and right back out. We were not greeted then once acknowledged we were seated next to 8 children under 8. Several were screaming for their parents seated at least 15 feet away. If the parents did not want to sit with them why would I. The hostess did not seem to see the issue. As we sat there we soon realized everyone had children! We did too but they weren't screaming. This restaurant is so use to children the gave my 13 year old a kids menu and crayons. Just seemed that they did not care about service or guest experience so, we went with our gut and left. Maybe first impressions aren't important to everyone but we decided it was not even worth risking eating the food.

  • Greg M.

Love the grilled oysters! Your basic fried seafood place that does it right. We had fried oysters - cooked perfectly and not greasy, and crab legs. House salad with blue cheese dressing was great. The place was clean and the service was spot on. Definately coming back.

    (5)
  • Deborah L.

Food was not bad, but extremely overpriced (even for a tourist area). Probably needs 3 $, at least for dinner. Service got progressively worse, including a 20 minute wait for the check. Will not be returning.

    (1)
  • James C.

The food was pretty good. It is on a boat dock. You will love the atmosphere. You could sit at your table and feed your scraps or whatever to the fish. The service is why I give it 3 stars. The waitress we had was not very good at what she did. I hope it was just this one. I will try it again next time I am down

We have eaten at the Bayou Bills near Sandestin for years and that one does have a little more character but it is small and the wait times after 6 pm are looonnnggg! This location is very clean, neat and can accommodate a lot more people so much smaller wait times. We arrived around 5:45 as we have little boys who go bonkers if we have to wait and we were seated promptly. I had the grouper Orleans and my wife had the stuffed grouper. Both were excellent and the kids had popcorn shrimp and even after a hard day of play at the beach and them "starving" they could not finish them. Of course, mom and I helped and those shrimp were pretty darn tasty too. They do have a lot of mounted fish, fish tank, a baby alligator the kids can pet and the coolest thing of all- an alligator pit outside with 8 more young gators. The kids would give it 5 stars, but I rarely give 5 as you have to blow me away to get 5. Bayou Bills is a solid 4, and could be a 4-1/2 except it is a little pricey for volume of food and charging $2 for kids drinks is just crazy.

This is about as far west in PCB as you can get without being in Carrillon Beach. My Husband and I have been looking for a seafood restaurant that serves a bucket of steamed seafood. We found it here. We shared the "Special of the House" which is a bucket of steamed oysters, clams, snow crab, mussels and shrimp with new potatoes and corn on the cob for $27. We each had an 8oz. bowl of soup. I had the Corn & Crab chowder which was really yummy but very thick and filling. I couldn't eat all of it. He had the Seafood Gumbo which was a little spicey. We went during the week so it wasn't real busy and we were seated right away. It is a huge restaurant. Our server was very bubbly and kept our drinks filled. We used to frequent a place in Ft. Walton Beach named Old Bay Steamer and we really loved the steamer buckets there. This is the closest we have found to it.

a good place to get fried crab claws, that is the only thing i tried - craving them as if you ask for fried crab claws outside of the coastal region of FL & AL all you get are blank stares or u want fried whats?? one has a better chance of finding fried pickles than fried crab claws - they are yummy!

  • Calla G.

Expensive and the food didn't blow me away. My Mahi Mahi was $20 and it wasn't that great. $12 for a subpar hamburger.

  • Evan B.

Not very good. The prime rib, ribs, (both old-tasting) and hush puppies (dry) were inedible. Seafood was very avg, but expensive. I had the broiled shrimp and scallops which were not bad. This place used to have an extensive tropical drink menu, but now it's a couple margarita's and beer I guess. There was no drink menu to speak of. 2 adults, 2 kids, no alcohol and 1 app was $90 without tip. Server was friendly, but she did not know the menu at all. They did refund the prime rib, which was nice. She said it was made fresh daily, but it sure didn't seem like it. There are better options in PCB.

  • Erika S.

Excellent place for families. They have life alligators and fun decorations inside. The food is great. The Alaskan crab legs is the best dish in the menu. They also have them in the children's menu. $28.00 for adults and $18.00 for kids. Not bad. The service is very attentive and the wait is not longer than ten minutes on any given night.

Good seafood done right. Fast friendly service. Seafood was cooked like your best friend made it. I will be back. Shrimp was great and Mahi was fresh. Very clean.

I'm really surprised Bayou Bill's only has three stars, it and the Great Southern Cafe were the only two restaurants near 30A that we would ever return to, and we tried a lot of places. I love raw oysters and can't really stand eating them steamed or cooked anymore, however, this place has an oyster dish that doesn't even taste like oysters. They char grill them in olive oil and worchesterchire, then coat them in some more olive oil and parmesan at the end. Tastes like a super tender piece of kobe beef, I've never had anything like it before. I got a bucket of seafood which I really enjoyed. Came with good crab legs (not the chinese buffet kind) that had big meaty pieces that pulled right out of the tough outer shell. It had corn, sausage, oysters, and my favorite, clams. Was pretty good. My dad was super impressed with the kids fried shrimp, some of the best we've tried. The best part of this place is the alligators, the kids absolutely loved seeing them, then you go inside and you get to pet one! For $6 they can sit on the bench and hold it and get their photo taken with it...I just snapped a few pics of my kids petting it outside the cage and tipped the girl a couple bucks, worth it, and my kids didn't get peed on like the ones who held the gator. I would definitely go back here again, probably one of the first places we'd visit on 30A. Cowgirl Kitchen got a lot of hype but was pretty bad as was Pizza by the Sea.

On vacation with the family was happy with the food overall. I only wish there were more grilled options. We had the platter for two and was happy that our substitutions were allowed because we don't eat oysters. We tried 2 other fish restaurants and one being pineapple willies and we prefer this place over pineapple willies. Awesome cheesecake. It was better that any cheesecake i have had. Was family oriented. Just an overall nice place.

We really liked this place! We arrived early enough to miss a long wait (about 5:30) and had a party of 5 adults and three young children. The service was prompt and the food was overall great! My husband got the 2lb crab leg meal and it was wonderful! I got the Stuffed Parmesan Grouper and it was really good. The slaw was nothing to write home about. My daughter got the cheeseburger and fries and they were both VERY GOOD! It is a bit overpriced, but when you factor in all the alligator watching it was worth it for us!!! (Oh and the Blue Crab drink was AWESOME!)

  • James T.

    Food = 3 (gumbo = 3, hush puppies = 3, key lime = 2) Price = 3 Experience = 3 Alright? It's a nicely designed large clean beach spot... with gators!

    (3)
  • Cindee D.

Hamburgers were great! Salad and dressing was great! Lots of fried seafood and not too much broiled. I would skip steak since it was dried out with no juices and definitely not worth $22. And our server, David, was great as well as atmosphere. And they don't accept American Express which was frustrating.
